They meet at the station To get back their nation A burning desire of aggravation United in sadness In furor and madness Claiming to safe us from western slackness Bridge Get us back - in control - there you go They might steal our dreams - don‘t you know They don‘t look - like we do - set the spark It‘s like the children’s fear of the dark Chorus Lost in a haze of their own disgrace Preaching the way of true salvation Blinded by fear “The end is so near!” We should give in and just behave As the custodians say, as the custodians say ... Controlling our thoughts - by Controlling the media X-ray machines causing mass hysteria Scientists lying About sickness and dying The moon landing fake - Thanks for clarifying … Bridge Count to ten, skip the nine, add a three E is eight, A is four - can‘t you see? Hidden truth - they don’t want - you to know And in the mirror the second row Chorus Lost in a haze of their own disgrace Preaching the way of true salvation Blinded by fear “The end is so near!” We should give in and just behave As the custodians say, as the custodians say ... ... Instrumental Chorus Lost in a haze of their own disgrace Preaching the way of true salvation Blinded by fear “The end is so near!” We should give in and just behave As the custodians say, as the custodians say ...

Right on my way through an unfriendly place Suddenly looked in her beautiful face Strangest appearance that I‘d ever seen The place seemed to glow in mysterious green Chorus I‘m the light of day And I‘ll drown your mind in sweetest colours Don‘t you run away ‘Cause your dreams are here to stay Found myself riding a marshmallow cloud This must be wonderland there was no doubt Turned round to find that she‘s already gone No time to wonder the journey went on Chorus I‘m the king of tales I will tell you anything you dreamed of Don‘t you run away Cause your dreams are here to stay Bridge “Come on“ she said - and her eyes burned like fire “Follow me now“ - in her voice there was desire Down in the valley of glittering trees I met a guy who you could not believe Says “I am an animal and I am a plant“ I said “I know - you are merely a man“ Bridge “Come on“ he said - with his body full of power “I‘ll show you now“ - and he turned into a flower I‘m the light of day And I‘ll drown your mind in sweetest colours Chorus I‘m the king of tales I will tell you anything you dreamed of Don‘t you run away Cause your dreams are here to stay Cause your dreams are here to stay Cause your dreams - are here - to stay

Farewell 09:38
Verse Time - slips - in my tangled mind I can feel myself, passing me by, passing me by I - sit - breathing in the pain My conscience whispers to my eyes, demanding tears, demanding tears Bridge Farewell now, Farewell now, Farewell now, I won‘t miss you much Farewell now, Farewell now, Farewell now, I won‘t miss you much Chorus I see the colours fade, a light divides the grey This past that‘s running through my veins - is staining me My mind begins to die, the past it takes its toll this love that sucked me down the drain, has spit me out Verse New - born - my view is getting straight - Hate has burned down my belief, creating new, creating now Bridge Farewell now, Farewell now, Farewell now, I won‘t miss you much Farewell now, Farewell now, Farewell now, I won‘t miss you much Chorus I see the colours fade, a light divides the grey This blood that‘s running through my veins - is staining me My mind begins to die, reaching for new goals, this love that sucked me down the drain, has spit me out - has spit me out Chorus I see the colours fade, a light divides the grey This blood that‘s running through my veins - is staining me My mind begins to die, reaching for new goals, this love that sucked me down the drain, has spit me out Farewell now - Farewell now I see the colours fade This blood that‘s running through my veins - is staining me Has spit me out Farewell now

Interception 06:05
Verse Most don‘t know - that it‘s really bad All our lives will change - it makes me feel so sad The summer of twenty-thirteen - a guy fled from Hawaii Revealed all of the secrets - and opened up our eyes Bridge They can find - everything on the line I‘m feeling insecure Never mind - we don‘t have no time They will tear us apart Chorus Interception - face detection It‘s getting darker day by day Body scanner - mass surveillance The price we all just have to pay? Verse Now we know - it‘s extremely bad There‘s no privacy - feels like I‘m going mad Complete location tracking - number-plate recognition It‘s all about the one thing - your data acquisition Bridge They can find - everything on the line I‘m feeling insecure Never mind - we don‘t have no time They will tear us apart Chorus Interception - face detection It‘s getting darker day by day Body scanner - mass surveillance The price we all just have to pay? Interception - face detection Watching us - All along the way They wanna scare you - At least they’ll try to And they believe - we‘ll let them get away With this scandalous betrayal Chorus They will tear us apart

What we know by know: Things went wrong somehow Getting out of hand Protect and prevent Now you sit and wait Tryin‘ to concentrate But the fear will rise Leaves you paralyzed Bridge An unknown face keeps watching you from the outside When you take a look, it seems to be long, long gone Started slowly but by now it’s a landslide Mercury’s falling and it won’t take long Chorus Wait - take your time Though you might be in the darkest night Wait - you won’t fall In this darkness you’ll be standing tall You’re waiting for the storm, waiting for the storm Comin‘ closer now Water‘s rising fast Get out anyhow Leave the ship at last Help the others out They will need your hand And without a doubt This is not the end Bridge So many souls - they’re all alone on the attic So many many hiding in the basements on their own They all seem to be so slow and static Constant fear will let them freeze to the bone Chorus Wait - take your time Though you might be in the darkest night Wait - you won’t fall In this darkness you’ll be standing tall You’re waiting for the storm Chorus

Toughest fight - you’ve ever seen But this was never meant to be good and clean Evolution‘s golden child (sweet child of mine) Rose above the gods and went pretty wild Bridge You won’t see it – Feeling safe and sound World’s on fire – Burning to the ground Chorus No more time, read the signs No tomorrow, we went far beyond that line Violent rage turns the page Show goes on without you on a different stage Tightened noose around your throat On your chest, you feel the weight of the load Though you always kept your faith (do you still believe?) Where‘s your god to get you out of this maze? Bridge Tables turned – and you are on the loose Stop your crying – there ain’t no excuse Chorus No more time, read the signs No tomorrow, we went far beyond that line Violent rage turns the page Show goes on without you on a different stage Instrumental Bridge Tables turning ... Stop your crying – now Trapped in your own cage But when you turn the page Show goes on without you on a different stage Now you’re crying for the moon The end came way too soon No one else to blame so - start a different tune Chorus Didn’t read the sign, wasted so much time Show goes on without us, far beyond the line Trapped in our own cage And when we turn the page Show goes on without us On a different stage This is our final song Still don’t know, what went wrong We’ll go down in history We’re facing our tragedy Go down in history … Facing our tragedy … We’ll go down in history

Endless path before me Hard to see - with weary eyes (feel the fear arise) Mystic fog around me Step by step - the colours fade (and I need some aid) Bridge A mind full of sorrow Fearing tomorrow Please take these dark clouds away Every move is painful Every thought just fades away (try another day) Left alone in darkness Lost the key to the front door (needed more and more) Bridge Black holes around me No one to ground me See my whole life slipping away Chorus Guide my way Guide my way - through life This world is not predictable, and I Feel I’m losing ground There‘s no god to save me No religion heals my pain (running through my veins) After all I‘ve been through Can‘t go back and can‘t go on (‘til this fears have gone) Bridge Black holes around me No one to ground me See my whole life slipping away Chorus Guide my way Guide my way - through life This world is not predictable, and I Feel I’m losing ground Instrumental I can't find my peace of mind See the colours fade Give me just a little sign Can you please just … Chorus

You‘ve asked me before Give me one more try to answer As far as I can say You‘ve never lost your way In those days You stayed on your course Kept your eyes on your horizon Across the northern sea A distant memory For always Bridge Dark waves are coming Reality ain’t real You feel the tide is turning Your hands still on the wheel Until you‘re out of sight - in the longest night Chorus ‘til the end of fear ‘til the end of all our sorrow I’ll be here by your side On a distant shore There will be a brand-new morning One fine day we will find What we have left behind You‘ve been here before Wonder if you can remember Nothing ever ends Like a circle in the sand Is washed away Chorus ‘til the end of fear ‘til the end of all our sorrow Standing here side by side On a distant shore There will be a brand-new morning We’re still one of a kind ‘til the end of fear ‘til the end of all our sorrow Standing here side by side On a distant shore There will be a brand-new morning One fine day we will find What we have left behind

Kazakhstan 07:01
I‘m not blind, this life‘s unkind And I know - there is a better way. I‘m not blind, there‘s more behind it And I know - we‘ll find a better way Bridge I hope we‘ll act as one And do what must be done Ooh, ooh, ooh - there is a better way Ooh, ooh, ooh - we‘ll find a better way I‘m not blind, there‘s more behind it And I know - we‘ll find a better way Instrumental

about

Why does a Hamburg band call its new album Kazakhstan? Kazakhstan is a former Soviet republic that receives little attention. Although geographically belonging to Central Asia, Kazakhstan lies
between Europe, China and the Arab world, and influences from these three regions can be found in Kazakhstan - just as various influences can be seen in Ricochet's music. Kazakhstan is strongly
influenced by the (apparent?) contradiction between tradition and modernity; this is also reflected in Ricochet's music, which brings together musical elements of rock music from several decades.
Last but not least, Kazakhstan also shows the environmentally destructive effects of human intervention in nature - a topic that is certainly one of the most current and important concerns of
humanity. The album cover shows a surfer standing in front of a dried up lake. The surfer shows the contradiction between resignation and hope; whether he is a hopeless optimist, a naïf or an
incorrigible rebel, everyone can decide for himself.
The album cover also shows around which musical central idea many of the nine pieces entwine.

However, Kazakhstan does not want to be a concept album like the previous album. Kazakhstan shows that the first album with Michael Keuter is characterized by much more rocky and earthy vocals. The concentrated power of Michael Keuter's voice needs the appropriate instrumental counterweight and results not least in a harder sound. This change also influenced the songwriting, which has become more compact, more powerful and clearer overall and takes up influences of
the 70s Progressive parts, which are typical for Ricochet, come to light again and again. The songs are always melodic; a variety of different tempos, as well as the characteristic time and key changes make the music varied. Musically, this album can be located in the transitional areas of progressive rock, classic rock and metal. With Kazakhstan the best song ideas of Ricochet from the last ten years now find their way to the listener.

As with the previous albums, Ricochet relied on the absolute ear and technical skills of sound engineer Jens Lück (aka "Single Celled Organism") and his Art of Music studio.

The completion of Kazakhstan was of course also significantly delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Strict conditions were already in place during the recording process. During the mix it was important for the band to be as complete as possible, which was not possible until the fall of 2021. The same applies to live performances and a possible CD release party. In the meantime, however, the band is in good spirits to follow up the successful live history (including a performance at W:O:A 1998) with further highlights in the near future.
